The Liebster Awards

I haven’t started on my post yet for next week, but I received a fun “reward” from Neri (Mama Needs Mana). I felt very excited and thankful to be chosen for such a reward!

What is the Liebster Award?

“Well, it is only an AWESOME award given to up and coming bloggers. Given by other up and coming bloggers. It’s a cool way to find other blogs and feel like you are getting into the blogging stratosphere. It is simple, you get nominated by someone else, mention
their page and a link to their blog in your Liebster Award Post, answer the 11 questions they give you, then tag 11 other nominees and give them a new set of 11 questions to answer.”

The point of the Liebster Award is to
network the names of new bloggers out there and to get them feeling good about views, as well as connecting with other potential new bloggers.

So, here are the questions I was given!

What inspired you to start blogging?

I am a fan of TotemSpot, and happened to make my way to the Resto Shaman section. I noticed that there was not as much there as compared to the Elemental and Enhancement sections. There were a couple of links given, one to an Elitist Jerks thread, the other to Vixsin’s Life In Group 5.

I was first truly inspired to begin writing a blog for Resto Shamans after reading through some of Vixsin’s work. I also had the crazy thought in my head, “Maybe I could be one of the bloggers for TotemSpot for the Resto guide! ” Regardless, here I am, blogging away.

If you won a free ticket to Blizzcon, what panels would you be most excited about seeing?

All of the World of Warcraft panels, especially anything dealing with new content and the artwork panels. I have always been fascinated by the art that goes into the games.

How do you balance time in-game with your ‘RL’ commitments?

iconThis can be tricky at times. Between college, schoolwork, parenting, blogging, and being a fiancée, there isn’t much time left!

I often debate hopping on WoW in the middle of the day versus napping, a precious energy source that is needed when you have a one and a half year old.

I find that most of my time spent in-game is often in the evening, once the little one has gone to bed.

If World of Warcraft shut down its servers tomorrow (Or you aren’t currently playing), what would you be playing instead?

I would probably cry for a very, very long time. Then I would most likely try another shot at FFXIV, or maybe even RIFT. I prefer RPG style MMO’s.

Are there any bloggers out there who you aspire to be like? What is it about them that you love?

I aspire to be like any popular bloggers out there that have made a name for themselves. I have always been intrigued by theorycrafting, and I would love to become more proficient in that at some point. Some of my favorite bloggers include Anne Stickney, Matthew Rossi, Dayani, Tickletotem, Vixsin, Bendak, Lissanna, and Derevka.

Are you brave enough to show us your gaming set up?

At what age would you let your children (Real or hypothetical) start playing video games?

I know from a realistic perspective that my son is going to get into games very quickly because both of his parents are gamers. All I can try to do is put a limit on it, such as a couple of hours a day.

You have a weekend of interruption free gaming ahead of you. What essential supplies do you stock up on to get you through it?

Lots of snacks and drinks for sure. I’m not too picky as far as what they are. Probably a mix between sweet snacks and salty snacks. I’m not a soda drinker, so probably juice.

If you could pick any job in the gaming industry, what would it be?

Hands down, an artist of some kind. Ideally, a character artist or environmental artist. With the blogging I’ve been doing, I can also honestly say I wouldn’t mind being involved with the lore side of things.

Have you ever done any gaming cosplay?

No, but I have always wanted to. I intend to go to Blizzcon at some point, so who knows what I might dress in!

What is the most ridiculous thing you’ve ever seen done in an MMO or multi-player game?

The guild I am in has players with very interesting senses of humor (often perverted).  One of my personal favorite moments involved several of our raid members surrounding the Guild Leader with their characters — completely naked, and dancing.

The Blogroll

Here is the list of blogs I chose for the Liebster Awards:

I know I didn’t do 11, but I was having a really tough time finding active blogs.  I don’t want to just post random blogs, either!

Now for the questions!

  1. What inspired you to become a blogger?
  2. What was the first character you raided with?  Which raid was it?  Do you still use this character as your main?
  3. If you could instantly be knowledgeable and proficient with any class/spec, what would you pick and why?
  4. If you could live in any virtual gaming world, which one would you choose?
  5. What would you do if Blizzard shut down WoW permanently?  Would you play another MMO or game?
  6. If you could change anything about the class you play in WoW, what would you change and why?
  7. If you could pick any job in the gaming industry, what would it be?
  8. Are there any bloggers out there who you aspire to be like? What is it about them that you love?
  9. If you could be in any top-end raiding guild, which one would you pick?
  10. What is the oldest screenshot you have in your WoW Screenshots Folder?  What is the story behind it?
  11. What is your favorite in-game memory of WoW?

  1. My pleasure! I’m glad you had fun :)

LOL! There’s nothing like a bit of naked dancing to really set the mood for a raid. And I’m not going to lie, I’m just a tad jealous of your gaming set up. Half the time my husband and I aren’t even in the same room, let alone the same game!

All the best with your resto shaman resource endeavors. Judging from the quality of your last post, you’re definitely on your way to big things! I’ve totally bookmarked it so that when I come back to WoW, I am prepared to throw buckets of water on my party and raid like they’ve never seen it before! ;-)

    • Thank you for the wonderful compliments! :)

I can only hope for my blog to go on to great things as you say; I am new to the blogging business, but I have been having a lot of fun with it and plan to try and stick with it!

I really enjoy your blog since I am a mama as well, I especially liked the post “Five Things I Had Forgotten About Pregnancy”, so true!

As for my gaming set up — it still needs work (like 2 new PC’s kind of work!), but it’s coming along. The monitor set up gives it that sort of gamer feel… we call it our Electronic center haha. It is nice being able to sit next to my fiancé, though. Except when we’re in bad moods! LOL.

I look forward to reading some more of your stuff! Thanks again.

      • The blogging community is fantastic for offering advice, especially the World of Warcraft community! Just beware of comments like the one below. Judging by the name and link, it’s bot spam trying to build SEO backlinks by using what looks like a legitimate comment (Notice they mention NOTHING about the actual content in your post? That’s generally a good indicator of shenanigans). If you’re self-hosting using WordPress.org, a commenting system like Disqus pretty much kills all bogus comments like that.

LOL thanks for the compliment! I’ve since remembered about 45 thousand things I have forgotten, so expect more posts like that in the future :P

      • Oh, thank you for letting me know. It originally showed up in the spam folder but I wasn’t sure. I’ll be sure to look into Disqus. :)

Edit: I got rid of the comment above.
